Rush of a Day

Today has been a hell of a day... i got off work at noon as per usual.

I came home to pulled up 8 full tilt 50nl tables as i usually do. I am running along and i'm really playing the best poker of my life. I end up making around $200 today on the tables. I was playing so well i felt like i could crush any stakes today. I obviously am not going to play those stakes but it'd be fun. My bankroll is close to moving into the 100nl game. But i keep having to take money out to pay for my car so i don't think its gonna be this month maybe next.

In my opinion i'm the best player that is a regular on the 50nl games. I haven't been sent for a twirl by any player... i'm just seeing every angle these days. I wish i had some hand histories to show ya but i don't cause my pokertracker is F-ing up at the moment. I did have some bad luck earlier today with any shortstack i got allin behind... they just magically hit their card... KK vs. A7 on the flop of 722... A on the turn. QQ vs. KTcc on a T65cc board K on the turn. Just pretty sick... nothing too damaging tho.

Anyways i feel on top of my game and i'm up close to 700 this month!

so everything is goin great so far on full tilt.

More drunk play

Alright so i'm hammered as this is written but man... i just have a sense that i go with when hammered.

Check out this hand....

http://www.pokerhand.org/?1202196

great call i would explain my logic except i don't give a fuck at this point... too hammered. I'm nut peddling on this hand... he was tilting and that was the only reason i called the flop raise. I literally fist pumped after this turn! It was amazing and with position to watch him shove on me was beautiful!

http://www.pokerhand.org/?1202201

anyways i'm up a nice amount so far and playin great poker!

i need to play drunk more often!

Drunk Play

Last night i went out the to the bars and had a wonderful time. Got pretty hammered for the first time in Charlotte. I went to a thing called alive after 5 which is a gathering in Downtown Charlotte with alot of young professionals and there was a band and bars everywhere. We went to another bar after that which was fun as well. All in all I didn't spend much money for a night out on the town. Anyways, after i got home i obviously decided playing poker was a great idea.

Now before i get into the play of my night, i would like to explain my drunk play. Playing drunk always hurts your ability to make good decisions. However, for me, drunk play kind of allows me to forget about the value of the chips. Which is nice and allows me to play a very difficult type of poker to beat. I am too aggressive for sure when i'm hammered but not to an extent that its really bad for me in the long run. That said.

I saw a game that i hadn't ever seen run and always kind of wanted to play. Its a .40/.80 deep stacked game. This is a game where the max buyin is $160 and everyone has 200bbs in front of them. Its a great game if you know how to play with alot of chips behind you... and lucky for me i do. I ran great on the table. I was just the right drunk to play good solid poker and not care about losing $160. Here's a few notable hands...

http://www.pokerhand.org/?1198025

alright in this hand I LOVE MY LINE. I think this is a brilliant play that gets the maximum value out of the hand. I took alot of time this morning and looked at this one. And here's why i think this is the max value i can get out of this hand. If i had bet the flop, i could have set myself up to win a big pot when the turn made his straight and my flush. However, I can get myself in a tough spot if the raiser has a big hand and wants to shut me out of the pot. If i get raised on the flop, i will either call, push or fold to the raise. I don't like call cause that gives away my hand. And he will put me on a draw and slow down if a card i want drops and speed up if a card i don't want drops unless its a non-heart 9 ... which for the record is his lotto card. I don't like reraising cause he's gonna lay down any weak holding and call any really strong one or reraise Allin with a real strong holding. This makes me no money or shuts me out the of the pot. I like the call because that really makes him wonder what I've got. And it looks like I've got an AJ and can be pushed off. Anyways on the turn i think a check raise gives away my hand again so i just opt to call. On the river, I made this bet immediately tryin to set off his timing tells and provoke a possible raise with air and a call with some marginal holdings. I don't look very strong just waiting til the river to throw out a bet and it gets called immediately. I think this hand was brilliantly played.

http://www.pokerhand.org/?1198049

Alright with this hand, its another great play. I get 3-bet outta the blinds which at this point i've got a very loose image and am raising alot from the button. I don' give too much credit to the 3-bet. The flop comes out pretty ugly for my hand. however, the way this guy bet this amount really looked weak to me. I thought for a bit and made the call knowing that there were alot of cards that could come on the turn to make him shut down completely... if he wasn't planning to do so already. The turn puts 4 to a straight on the board... i love the turn. He checks as i expected. I throw out a roughly pot sized bet pretty quickly. This looks like 2-pair more than it does a straight imo but it still makes him wonder if i am planning to get away from my hand for the rest of his chips. To my delight he folds immediately. Well played float by me.

I ended up leaving the table up $50 after losing a few small pots. Not bad for a drunky.

Next i spot 2 very bad games of headsup $100nl poker going. I put myself on the waiting list and finally get on. My first opponent was BAD! He coughed up something like $120 to me. Here's a few hands from his play...

http://www.pokerhand.org/?1198069
http://www.pokerhand.org/?1198074

I ended up just raping this guy for his cash in those 2 pots... which i obviously had him tilting for these pots by playing solid poker.

My next opponent was not as bad as the first but he was close. I won $100 from him by the end of the match and here's a few of those hands.

http://www.pokerhand.org/?1198086
http://www.pokerhand.org/?1198089
http://www.pokerhand.org/?1198092

These are all interesting hands... and the third one is just for fun.

The third opponent i played only has one HH to show cause he moved allin on the first hand...

http://www.pokerhand.org/?1198100

i decided this was a hit and run... and made the call with A7... and turned out to be better than i thought. I figured he had something like KJ.

My fourth opponent i took another $109 from...

http://www.pokerhand.org/?1198106
while this one is a bad beat... i analyzed it this morning and i really still like the play on my part. I made it look like i was slowplaying a monster and was still 60/40 against the worst of his holdings and i was putting the pressure on him. So good play by me and a better river.

http://www.pokerhand.org/?1198114
and again my opponent goes all tilty!

Anyways my 5th and 6th opponents didn't go so well. I ended up giving $100 back total. So all in all i was up around $250 on the night! and couldn't be happier with it.

http://www.pokerhand.org/?1198119
here's one hand from those last 2 matchs that is kind of interesting.

anyways i'm gonna go back to being a complete and utter bum. Until next time...

Charlotte

I just arrived in charlotte and am finally getting to the point where i am seeing the end of unpacking. I start my job on the 25th so i still have another week to make sure everything gets goin. Anyway so i finally have my computer set up and can start keepin up with poker again. Tonight i sat down at 50nl 6-max tables and things just weren't happening my way. It was pretty bad i had a few situations that were ugly and i finally started to tilt like a rarely do. So i had to get up... Here's what started the ugly hands...

http://www.pokerhand.org/?1190461

Get a guy allin way behind and he spikes his 2 pair... just an ugly situation.

This hand is WAYYYYY worse and this is the hand that i had to stop after... I didn't even see this one coming but it really put my on my ass...

http://www.pokerhand.org/?1190448

I mean nothing i can do there... if i don't bet that turn it gives the draw a free look and lets a 7 get off cheaply... just ran into a tough hand. Hate it.

Anyways i'm off to just bummin around. Later.

Omaha Addict!

So as of that big score I've kinda turned into an omaholic. I just love this game and my reads are getting better and better as i log more hands. I love the game but i'm sure variance is gonna come and bite me in the ass cause i've been running white hot. I've also gotten my BR up to 1650 and moved to $50pl where the players are just as bad as the ones in 25pl. So there's no real difference between the stakes cause all the players are so bad at omaha.

Here's one hand i wanted to post from awhile ago...

http://www.pokerhand.org/?1177433

I think this is a decent push for a lot of reasons... first the board is pretty dry as in there's no way a player could really have the nuts as they are QQxx or 99xx. I think i can get 33xx to fold alot of times here for a full buyin and i've got outs out the wazoo. also he could have been overplaying a hand with AAxx in it which obviously he folds. I still like getting my money in there as a +EV play.

Anyways, i'm off to my girlfriends house.

More sick omaha!

I had the sickest night I've had yet on FTP. I played 4 tables of Omaha hi 6-max $25pl for about 4 hours and ended up more than $300 in the green. My roll is officially kicking on FTP!! I've put $650 of my own roll onto FTP and now have a bankroll on FTP of $1450 meaning I've more than doubled up in 15 days good news for me. I'm also thinking about buying pokertracker for Omaha... i'm still considering it but if i play more seriously on the Omaha front it will definitely be worth it.

Tonight i also bought my first thing off of eBay since i was in middle school, a tomtom xl GPS portable system for my car! It was such a good deal on eBay i couldn't pass it up and I've been wanting one of these things since i first saw one. Anyways it should be getting here before the move so i can't get lost on the way to Charlotte.

I'm off to bed since it is about 2am.

Sick Omaha...

Just played a 4-table omaha hi session on FTP. It went outrageously well. I was up more than a buyin on every table and up 2 buyins on one table. I don't feel like posting all the hand histories and analysis but just know that it was some solid poker in one of the easiest games online. 25pl omaha is a joke and there's a ton of great money to be made there. And its wildly fun as well.

WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

Busy Day

So today has been a busy day tryin to run around getting ready for my big move. For those of you that don't know I am moving to Charlotte, NC on this coming Monday and i start my new job the following Monday. I am pretty damn excited to get out there and live the real life. I've already got all my housing arrangements setup as you might imagine as well as a number of other pretty important things for a big move. But obviously i still have alot more to do. So i had to run to the bank and write thank you notes and all of sorts of other little odds and ends today.

On a poker front, I played 650 hands when i woke up this morning. I ended up down 21.80 which is roughly a buyin. However i played pretty well with only one borderline decision... Here's the borderline decision and after you look at the hand i'll show ya the pokerstove analysis...

http://www.pokerhand.org/?1168704

First off, I'm not real happy with my pre-flop play as i took the passive way out and smooth called a bet. I had 4 bet the guy pre- he might have just folded or if he didn't i would have bet pot on the flop and been easily committed when he shoved on flop. Instead i played the hand with a smooth call and should have easily been able to get away from this if i wanted to. However, i felt that it was a coinflip and i was having a little gamble in me. Using pokerstove (www.pokerstove.com) and assuming this guys range to be any pocket pair other than 22 (i assume this because this push is so bizarre and way over the pot... it could be a frustrated bet), any AK (same reason as PPs), any AQ, and QK or 56ss or 67ss or 57ss or 25ss i came up with the following numbers... (btw i based this range on my players play up to the point i played the hand)

EQUITY
Hand 0: 51.312% { AsKs }
Hand 1: 48.688% { 22+, AQs+, KQs, 7s6s, 7s5s, 6s4s, 5s4s, 5s2s, 4s2s, AQo+, KQo }

As you can see my equity is over 50% which means mathematically i should call the allin but it is such a big bet so its a really high variance call.

Outside of this hand, which was obviously a tough decision, i had two just unfortunate hands which were right next to each other and strikingly similar. Nothing i could do about them though against mid stakes i will play for stacks every time on these hands...

http://www.pokerhand.org/?1168748
http://www.pokerhand.org/?1168753

What can i do? Nothing but pay him off. Notice the times and the table... pretty sick.

But off the negative note, I think played those hands to the best of my ability and gave each of them an analysis as to how i wished to play them and i played them exactly the way i wanted to. To end the blog here's a really fun hand... which i manged to milk for exception value from the session this morning...

http://www.pokerhand.org/?1168760

wish that river club had come... DAMN!

oh well i'm gonna hit the tables now so until next time...

Grrrr...

The session i started playing was going ridiculously well i was up $50 right off the bat by making sick calls like the following in a deep stack situation...

http://www.pokerhand.org/?1166018

ownt.

but as the session went on i got welcomed to the town of suckedouton...

http://www.pokerhand.org/?1166017

booo river.

followed by the ole gutter allin...

http://www.pokerhand.org/?1166014

anyways i had to call it a session early cause i was starting to tilt but in the end i only was up $6 on the session. GRRRRRRRR! I'm usually pretty good about getting out when i get frustrated so i decided this one is gonna have to be continued after some sort of snack or other activity. Oh i also have a picture of the table i was playing at with morris and a few others. There were 3 players at the table with over 100 hands and a vpip of over 70. Ridiculous... here's the pic

Good Start to the day...

I started today about the same as I start all my days until i start my job in a week. I roll outta bed browse all my forums and facebook then fire up whatever poker site i am playing on. Usually that poker site is Pokerstars but recently i moved all my money from Pokerstars to Full Tilt. So today i fired up Full Tilt.

I decided i wanted to 4 table 25nl 6-max today as my bankroll on full tilt is only 1100 since i had to cash out money for my move to Charlotte here in the next few days. The first table i sat at was complete gold, there were 3 complete full stack donkeys who would prove to just give money away. The other 3 tables are i sat at had a mix of regulars and short stacks. One of the things i love so much at FTP (full tilt poker) is that you can datamine observed tables with pokertracker so when i go to bed at night i just leave 16 tables open and let it mine away. The great thing about this is i know who the regulars are when they sit at my table. I have 5000 hands on one player... that's more hands than i've played on FTP. That's great so i know exactly how he plays in just about every situation.

anyways... back to my session. I ended the session up over $120 and was over a buyin on every table. One funny thing that keeps happening to me on FTP is that players keep asking me why i'm playing such a low limit. I always know I'm better than 95% of the players in 25nl but no one else ever noticed at least on pokerstars they never said anything. Two days in a row I've gotten similar comments... 'why are you only playin 25nl, ringer?' I must admit its flattering as i don't really know what to tell them other than i haven't gotten my bankroll up to 30 buyins on FTP to move up to the next level. I must admit its flattering and my game must really be looking good for people to make these comments.

Full Tilt seems to have a number of TERRIBLE players. I don't mean terrible as in they shove with any draw. I mean terrible like they call allins with J highs. I've run into to 2 players so far at my tables who will sit with a full buyin and just get it pretty much allin every hand they play. That's an amazing thing. Here's one hand history for example from today against my donkey...

Uncalled bet of $40.10 returned to Damn Ringer
Damn Ringer mucks
Damn Ringer wins the pot ($40.60)

Outside of the fact that i flopped the nuts really didn't matter, morrisbluff was playing every hand and probably had something like 9T when he called my flop raise. He also allowed me to sandwich jimmyknows (who is another fish) because he was pissed that morris was playing so many pots. Jimmyknows went bust roughly 10 hands later after tilting from this hand. He obviously held TJ and was tryin to curb the betting which clearly i wasn't having.

This next hand was from a few sessions ago when i was playin 30nl Deep stacked which appears to be a really soft game on full tilt. This player managed to lose $550 in under 2 hours playing this way. But everytime i thought he busted and was done... he would reload and bust again... and repeat. Here's an idea of how badly he was playin...

FullTiltPoker Game #2596875531: Table Saber (deep) - $0.15/$0.30 - No Limit Hold'em - 11:57:38 ET - 2007/06/06

That's just classic. Anyways, I am about to fire up another session but i'm really enjoying full tilt and i think the games are ALOT softer here then on pokerstars.

May 2007 PT Stats

Month of May wasn't quite as kind as April but i ran into some kinks and had to iron them out... still an overall profitable month so i can't complain too much. Just a very frustrating month.

My April 2007 Stats from 25nl and 50nl
